Community Association CommitteeMinutes of meeting - 5th December, 2001 at 7.30pm, in Inverkip HotelWelcome Apology Minutes Treasurer's report The Treasurer said he now had the breakdown of the Water Bill, he had spoken about at the previous meeting. With the full discount we were due, the total was £300. Finlay further reported, he was in receipt of £100 from the Community Council to assist in the starting up of the new football facility - 'Ardgowan Football Development'. He also has made application for a grant of £1000 from Inverclyde council for the purpose of running the hall. A discussion followed regarding the Disco Equipment. Finlay said his brother had managed to repair the lights. The parts had cost £21. On considering the time spent on the repair, the Committee agreed to pay £50 for the work on the equipment. In closing his report, the Treasurer said everything was running fine and we now had £10,000 plus in the bank. Secretary's report Letting report The football development club would be using the Centre, on Sunday, the 9th from 1p.m. to 3.30p.m. To register any 5-8 year olds who were interested. They planned to start early in the new year. She also announced the weight-watchers would be starting on Wednesday morning the 9th of January. This group also wanted an evening booking, however at the moment none was available. An Inverkip group called 'Indisposed' wanted the use of the Centre, on the 17th of February, from 2.30p.m. 'till late, probably 10 p.m. Kirsty said they were in the 20 year-old age group. The purpose seemed to be to let people hear them. The Committee discussed this at length, and asked the letting secretary to contact them and enquire if it was a 'gig'? - how many would be present? Also we would probably require a £100 deposit. (Action point Kirsty) Any other business It was reported that Inverclyde had changed the date of its Jubilee Day celebrations and it now clashed with ours. Caroline suggested we might try 'Ossian' who were building the flats for sponsorship for our Gala Day. The Secretary mentioned he had written to them some time ago, asking for assistance, either financially or practically, on the proposed storing extension at the Centre, he had not received a reply. Finlay felt the best approach would be on a personal level, perhaps he and Caroline, could try for a meeting with them. (Action point George) Sharon Black was congratulated, on the success of the evening held at the Centre and also for the story of the event in the 'Telegraph'. Sian Burton again raised the subject of purchasing smaller tables. It was agreed to get a price for this. (Action point Caroline) Date of next meeting George Anderson, (Minutes appropriately edited for publishing on web site) |
