Wemyss Bay Spring Clean 2002Saturday, April 27th, 2002. For the fifth year running the Community Association is organising a local volunteers spring clean under the auspices of Keep Scotland Beautiful and the National Spring Clean. For one day per year under this initiative local authorities provide free skips, gloves, bags, litter pickers etc, to enable communities to have a go at getting rid of their local litter problems. Get involved! The clean up will take the usual format - local groups to clean their own back yards. Finlay McFee, the organiser, will organise skips, bags, gloves, pickers etc. The emphasis is on Wemyss Bay Woods this year - the Community Council is supporting a conservation project and have requested that the woods be made a local nature reserve. The Lower Clyde Project funded a report on the woods by the Tennant Garmory Partnership. The Woodlands Action Group (WAG) is being formed and further information on this group and the problems with the woods can be found here: Woodlands Action Group If you would like to help, or organise a group to help, please contact Finlay McFee on 522934 to put your name down and book your share of resources, no later than Monday, 22nd April. Alternatively, just turn up at the community centre at 10am on Saturday 27th April ready to help wherever you can! Information supplied by Finlay McFee (clean up organiser) |
