Bravehearts
to Beijing
Paisley University students Maureen
McQuaid (of Wemyss Bay), Gillian Harvey, Chris Collins and Renzo Cardosei,
along with about 100 other volunteers, walked 100km along the Great
Wall of China to help raise funds for The Scottish Society for Autism.
They were away from the 23rd of September, returning on the 3rd
of October, 2001.

| The group were hoping to
raise £2,500 each for the charity and their fundraising efforts
were very successful. The charity helps Autistic children and gives
invaluable support to their families to help them deal with the
condition which, as yet, has no cure. Each of those taking part
in the walk took a St. Andrew's flag with them to fly proudly on
top of this great wonder of the world! |

A successful
fund rasing fete, with a cake and candy stall, nearly new, books,
plants, toys, a tombola, face painting and refreshments was held
at the community centre on Saturday, 28th April, with over £1000
being raised! The only thing the team did wrong was to put the
children in charge of the tuck shop! Thanks are given to all those
who attended and helped to make this such a success. |
